DESCRIPTION:Join The Short Kuts Show live storytelling experience for the first show of its 2020 season at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum. The show is inspired by the Geto Boys’ 1991 hit song\, ‘Mind Playing Tricks On Me’–the first rap song to openly and unashamedly wax lyrical about struggling with mental illness. \nStorytellers include Tracy Allen\, LCSW-C (AKA “The Hood Therapist”)\,Chelsea Leah Burrell (meditation coach)\,Latesha Higgs (mental health advocate for NAMI)\, Amber Taylor (digital communications Strategist)\, Dasie Thames (human resources executive)\, Winifred Winston\, M.S.\,GCDF (author)\, and a handful of other mental health practitioners\, mental health patients (past and current)\, and patient’s loved ones\, sharing the true stories—hilarious\, unbelievable\, suspenseful\, amazing\, tragic\, and triumphant—of their lives wrestling with the monsters of mental illness. \nMember: $12; Non-Member: $15\nDoors Open at 6:30 P.M.\nPerformance from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. \nClick HERE to Sign Up! \nAbout The Short Kuts Show Narrative Therapy Initiative & Live Storytelling Experience: \nThe Short Kuts Show\, a project created by Cambio Group Co-Founder and equity advocate and consultant\, Dr. LaMarr D. Shields\, Ph.D.\, and social designer Darius Wilmore\, Co-Founder of the Taharka Brothers Ice Cream Company for Social Justice\, Human\, Rights\, and Beyond\, begun in 2017\, debuting at the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in 2018\, is a narrative therapy initiative and live storytelling experience steeped in and inspired by the oral narrative tale-telling traditions and person to person(s) information sharing activities along with and the anticipated hair chair therapy (practiced\, unofficially\, by barbers/beauticians—the hair chair therapists) services persisting within the Black community’s barber/beauty shop sanctuary spaces within the U.S. and beyond.
